I’m, Like, Gonna Be Famous

Esbee asked me to write about my experience test driving the Cheerwine Kreme filled Krispy Kreme so that she could post it on Life in Forsyth.  For my friends from out of town that's about as big-time as it gets around here.

My thanks to Esbee for treating my treatise with a gentle editing pen.

Ready for the Raining of Frogs

I do believe the end of the world is nigh since Esbee has affiliated herself with a project that has a Facebook group.  She's looked down her nose at Facebook and Twitter for as long as they've existed so I can only believe that someone sneaked this into the mix behind her back.

BTW, Local Dish Winston-Salem features contributions from the uber-coolest ladies online in the Twin Cities.

Very Berry at The Children’s Home

The Journal's Michael Hastings writes today about the strawberry patch at The Children's Home in Winston-Salem, and I'd like to personally vouch for the greatness of those berries.  Last Saturday I was at The Children's Home to help give a presentation to The Children's Home Alumni Association about the Labor of Love project the organization I work for did back in February.  The folks at The Children's Home fed us some of the first berries picked from the patch and I can tell you they blow away any of the store bought strawberries I've had this year.  Seriously, you need to head over to TCH and get yourself some.

Apparently in Mt. Airy Wine Ain’t Christian

From a story on WXII's site about some Baptists in Mt. Airy getting ready to work a local wine festival:

A group of about 100 Baptists from 10 to 15 local churches plan to stand at four intersections in town to express their opinion to those who will be attending the Budbreak Wine Festival on Saturday.

Tim Crotts, pastor of Beartrail Baptist Church, is heading up the group.

“We are taking an opportunity to proclaim Christ. We will be holding signs and banners so people driving in and out from the event can see our message — Jesus saves,” Crotts said…

Crotts said drinking wine is “not a Christian thing to do.”

That last one has me scratching my head a little for a couple of reasons.  Namely the whole water to wine thing and the fact that Catholics (and some other mainstream religions) serve wine in church.  I do believe that Catholics count as Christians.

A Virtual Farmers Market in the Triad

Rockingham County is launching a virtual farmers market for its farmers.  From the story:

The new Local Food Coalition hopes to open its virtual farmers
market for business by March 21 and sell to businesses and the public
in the Piedmont Triad.

A Web site will enable restaurants and other businesses to order
fruit, vegetables and other products from farmers who are members of
the coalition. Farmers will then deliver the food to businesses or
central locations for pickup.
