Cool Way to Share Pics, Art, You Name It

Just found a site that has created a very simple way to share images, video or other graphics files. It’s called Grafedia and basically it works like this:  You go to their site, upload an image, assign a word to it and then tell anyone you want to see the image that they can get the image by sending an email to "TheWordYouCreated@grafedia.net".

I tested it out by uploading a picture of the junk I dug out of my yard last weekend.  I labeled it "lowderjunk" so you can see it by sending an email to lowderjunk@grafedia.net.  ***Important*** You have to make sure you put something in the body of the message for it to work.  It can be anything…letter, number, favorite cuss word, etc.

You can also use the service with a video/picture phone.  Simply send the picture/video to the address you want and it is automatically posted.  So if I had taken the picture of my junk with a phone I would have sent it to lowderjunk@grafedia.net and it would have been loaded in the system automatically.

I read about this site in Cool News, which is a great business/marketing email newsletter.

How NOT to Start Your Week

  1. Wake up to your dog taking a crap on the floor next to your side of the bed.  (Not so bad if it’s on your wife’s side and she has "eminent domain" on the cleanup).
  2. After cleaning up dog-poop go to the kitched to brew coffee.  Take coffee and paper to the family room only to find that the wet blobs of sheetrock are falling from the ceiling thanks to the persistent leak you get everytime it rains more than three drops in an hour.
  3. Sit there looking at your wet ceiling wondering why the repair guy couldn’t come last week instead of this or next week.

If this is any indication of how my week is going to go, I might want to stay in bed for the duration.

Hate to Say I Told Myself So

Back on March 13 I posted this piece stating that the ACC wouldn’t be represented in the Final Four.  To cut myself some slack I did make this prediction before the brackets came out, and yet I was only a one-point win by UNC away from getting it right.

I also said that if I was smart I’d say that only one team would get in, not none.  I hate it when I’m right about being wrong…or whatever.

One of the All Time Great College B-Ball Weekends

Some observations from the Sweet-16, Elite-8 weekend of the 2005 NCAA tournament:

  • I’m an ACC fan, but basically I have to admit that the Big-10 waxed them when it really counted.  Of course the ACC has won the December show-downs every year they’ve had it, which is like winning during the NFL pre-season.
  • I don’t think the Big-10’s success is a coincidence.  In general the Big-10 teams played with more deliberate offensive schemes and their defenses held up well against the superior offensive talent of their opponents.  This was very clear in clutch situations when teams like Duke, NC State and Arizona resorted to one-on-one clear outs while the Big-10 teams all seemed to have the ability to stay in their offense no matter what the situation.
  • Word Association: West Virginia – Minor Choke; Arizona – Garphrezaaakerageckaaaaaack!
  • Is it easier to count the number of games that DIDN’T go to overtime this year?

Hopefully the final four will live up to this last weekend, but unfortunately that usually doesn’t happen.  Good regionals=lame final four.  Fire up the TIVO!

Buyer Beware or Joys of Homeownership

YardjunkSee that junk pile to the left?  That’s what I dug out of one side of my property over the last weekend.  It was buried under a layer of mulch.

From what I can tell it was left there by the previous owners when they built the addition on the back of the house.

Anyone need rotted 2x 4s, a 20" long 6×6 joist (very rotted), broken slate, metal rods, two 3" long neon light bulbs, a couple of containers of some goop or some very rotted press board?  Give me a call.
