Three Days in Raleigh

Activity Days 21-23: Work took me to Raleigh the first half of the week (May 21-23) for an education conference the first two days and then a visit to the legislature on Wednesday. I’ve pasted the FitBit screenshots from all three days below. Didn’t make my 5.4 miles-per-day goal any of these days, but I did better than I thought I would. Some pics from the conference and legislative visits are at the bottom of the post.

Miles walked/run: 4.13, 4.11, 4.44 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Miles remaining in challenge: 240.52. I’m still slightly ahead of schedule. After the next few days, though, I won’t be so lucky.

Terrible Tennis and Neighborhood Delivery

Activity Day 20: Played my first competitive singles match, as in a league match, for the first time in forever and it didn’t go well. I was supposed to play doubles, but we had a no-show so singles it was. It was hot as blazes and I stunk the place up, so it’s a match I’d prefer to forget. Then in the evening my better half and I delivered the neighborhood newsletter, which kicked in a couple of miles. All in all it was a good exercise day even if the tennis sucked.

Miles walked/run: 7.93 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Miles remaining in challenge: 253.2. I’m ahead of schedule, but that’s a good thing because the next week features a lot of travel that will likely put a serious ding in my daily mileage.

Walking Winston

Activity Day 19: Went for a nice long walk around Winston-Salem and it reminded me that cities look different when you walk them versus when you drive through them. The miles logged today got me through the 100-mile threshold since the start of the challenge on May 1.

Miles walked/run: 9.41 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Miles remaining in challenge: 261.13. As I mentioned before, these miles get me past the 100-mile threshold for the challenge. Looking forward to the next 100!

Walking in Place

Activity Day 18: Didn’t feel like swimming for my miles, so given the day’s monsoons I decided a session on the treadmill would be the best approach to get in the miles. Boring? You bet, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Miles walked/run: 5.03 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Wheels on the Bus

Activity Day 17: At work we had our “New Construction Bus Tour” and toured three new apartment communities. In the evening I hand delivered invites for the neighborhood pool party in a couple of weeks. A productive day all the way around.

Miles walked/run: 5.65 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit

From Ardmore to Bailey Power Plant to Raleigh

Activity Day 16: Morning walk to Ardmore, then a work function at Bailey Power Plant, and then meetings in Raleigh. Exhausting and interesting day.

Miles walked/run: 6.83 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Workin’

Activity Day 15: Crazy day, so I didn’t get much walking in. Gonna have to make up some miles over the rest of the week.

Miles walked/run: 2.16 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Beating the Heat

Activity Day 14: It was HOT today (low 90s), so I waited until the evening to do my walk. We seem to have skipped spring and gone straight into summer. My better half came outside to see me off and I caught a shadow pic (see below).

Miles walked/run: 7.37 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

And on the 13th day, he rested

Activity Day 13: After the last week the dogs weren’t just barking, they were howling, so I decided to take it pretty darn easy. Did a little puttering but for the most part, it was a rest and recovery day.

Miles walked/run: 1.72 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Miles remaining in challenge: 297.58. This puts me a scooch behind my pace, but I’ll make it up tomorrow.

Moving Erin

Activity Day 12: Our daughter needed some help moving into her new apartment, so the day was spent toting stuff out of one apartment, loading cars and unloading at the new place. Luckily, her boyfriend recruited his brothers and one buddy to help so I didn’t have to move much furniture. Overall, one of the easier moves of my extended career as a volunteer mover.

Miles walked/run: 4.76 miles. Here’s the screenshot from my FitBit:

Miles remaining in challenge: 299.3. Woot!Less than 300 left to go.
