At This Point I’ll Take Any Good News

What with all the bad economic news lately I’ll take any good news I can get.  Here’s some from PTI:

For the first time in two years, more passengers are flying out of Piedmont Triad International Airport than in the year before. The growth rate isn’t much: just one-third of 1 percent. But that’s better than the airport’s recent history. In the previous two years, boardings at the airport dropped by about 200,000 passengers.

It is still quite cheaper to fly from the Charlotte and Raleigh airports, I am guessing. I am flying out of Raleigh to Atlanta next week for about 45% less than the same flight would cost at GSO. Both airports are about one hour from where I live now. It would actually be more convenient to fly out of G-boro for a few reasons, so I hope they work to make it more affordable/ competitive.

No doubt it’s still cheaper to fly out of either Charlotte or Raleigh, but I’m hoping that as the new discount airlines start to expand their services we’ll see fares go down for trips from GSO to places like DC, Atlanta, NY. When Independence Air went under the rates for flights to DC on the other airlines went through the roof and I’d like to see them go down again.
