Ernest Angley King of the Televangelist Toupee Crowd

Believe it or not one of the most popular posts on this blog, out of over 1,000 posts I’ve made, is this one I did on Ernest Angley back in April, 2006.  It gets a lot of traffic from people who search the term "Ernest Angley" on Google (six people just this morning) and as you can see from the comments on my post he still has his share of supporters.

Today the folks at Boing Boing pointed to a blog called Televangelists with Toupees and that site ranked good ol’ Ernest’s mop as the number one televangelist toupee. The site claims that Ernest once offered locks of his dead wife’s hair in exchange for a donation and it also has a Youtube video of one of Ernest’s 80s era promos, but I wanted to find a video that would give you an idea of what made him the finest in unintentional late night comedy in the days before cable.  Here it is:

This video was appaling to me. My great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and I were all raised in Ernest Angley’s church in Akron, OH. He ia a wonderful man of God! I am living proof of the miracles God performs through Reverend Ernest Angley. I just wanted you to know I think it is wrong what you have done to deface such a wonderful man of God. No matter, I hope God blesses you anyway.

This is for Marcie. I am a christian myself and I watch Ernest Angley Hour often. I think he does a great sermon 🙂 However last summer my fiancee & I took a drive to Cuyahoga Falls as I wanted to meet him, I find him quite facinating. I was really turned off, the three hour session consisited of him asking for money…and he made such a production out of getting people who gave money to stand up and say their name and where they are from. He started at $1000 then down to $10 and would say “who ever can give $50 please stand.” This went on until almost everyone was standing. I had arranged to meet him but I did not stick around to do so, we left out of discust before the healing line. I think he needs to not ask for so much money, it’s a little ridiculous.

I was raised in ernest angley’s church in akron ohio. my parents drove me there from ontario nearly every weekend.
Trust me, if anyone knows its me. THE MAN IS A FRAUD. He knows how to talk to people, he knows how to make it look as though the deaf can hear (they turn up the speakers for the old “baby”, “dog”, “jesus” test). I’m not sure if it’s ernest himself that is so good at decieving people or if it’s the people who work with him, but who ever master-minded that plan knew how much money it could put in the bank.

Ernest Angley is a fraud, anyone that believes any of that garbage about him needs to have their heads checked. This is a man that abuses weak and sick people by giving them false hope. Shame on him and shame on anyone that defends him. If there is truly a hell then Angley will go there!

I want to make something clear. I have asked on various sites, if it is true that Ernest Angley teaches that it is not wrong to have an abortion. I have never actually heard Mr.Angley say this. I was just curious as to whether it could be true. I came across a site that claims he doesn’t believe that abortion is murder. If Rev.Angley does not teach this, then I apologize for bringing it up. I do not want to slander a man of God. I do know that he thinks life starts at birth, not at conception. If he does teach that abortion is not a sin, then he is tragically wrong.

If anyone seriously wants to understand how some of Rev.Angley’s doctrines deviate from the Gospel of Christ-I strongly suggest you read the articles about him found on “Let Us Reason” ministries site.Mike Oppenheimer has done an excellent 5 part study on Angley.Angley teaches much that IS true, but he has a great deal of erroneous doctrines as well.I believe he is a sincere servant of God,but is unwittingly putting people into fear and spiritual bondage.Christ died to set us free! Check it out.Go to the site, and look for the category called “what’s new”.These articles are fascinating, and controversial!

If you want to know about the many false teachings that Rev.Angley has unfortunately mixed in with the truths of the gospel-go to “Let Us Reason Ministries.” Mike Oppenheimer has done a thorough, and fair,5 part study of Rev Angley.Read it with an OPEN MIND,and you will learn alot!
